2Paul before the council
The commanding officer set Paul before the chief priests and the council, and the high priest Ananias ordered him struck on the mouth. When Paul cried out that he was a Pharisee on trial concerning the resurrection of the dead, Pharisees and Sadducees fell into dispute, and soldiers took him back to the barracks by force.
Trial before Felix
The high priest Ananias came down with some elders and an orator, Tertullus, who accused Paul before Felix of stirring up insurrection and trying to profane the temple. Paul answered that he had gone up to Jerusalem to worship and to bring gifts to his nation. Felix put off the case and kept Paul in custody.
