1The apostles freed and Gamaliel’s counsel
The high priest and the Sadducees jailed the apostles, but an angel opened the prison by night, and at daybreak they were teaching in the temple. Before the council Peter and the apostles said they must obey God rather than men. Gamaliel, a Pharisee, advised leaving them alone, and they were beaten and released.
