What happened here
2Two years in Rome
Paul was allowed to live by himself with a soldier guarding him. He met the leaders of the Jewish community and, for two whole years in his own rented house, received all who came to him, teaching boldly without hindrance.
Only Luke is with Paul
Paul urged Timothy to come to him soon: Demas had left him and gone to Thessalonica, Crescens had gone to Galatia and Titus to Dalmatia, and only Luke was with him. He asked Timothy to bring Mark, who was useful to him for service.
2 Timothy does not name the place of writing. Paul writes as a prisoner in chains (1:8; 2:9) and says Onesiphorus sought him diligently in Rome and found him (1:16–17); the event is mapped to Rome on that basis.
