What happened here
2Questions on the Mount of Olives
Leaving the temple, Jesus said its buildings would be thrown down. As he sat on the Mount of Olives, his disciples asked him privately when this would happen and what the sign of his coming and of the end of the age would be.
The ascension
Acts says that as the apostles watched, Jesus was taken up and a cloud received him out of their sight. Two men in white clothing told them he would come back in the same way, and they returned to Jerusalem from the mountain called Olivet.
Acts 1:12 names the mountain called Olivet, near Jerusalem. Luke’s Gospel tells the ascension separately, saying Jesus led the disciples out as far as Bethany (Luke 24:50).
